It wasn't 48 hours ago that I thought I was going to blog about my frustration with potty training Racecar. This kid, on Saturday alone, peed through 4 pairs of underwear and pooped once in them. Makes for a frustrated Mom and a fatigued Laundress. The child will sometimes go through the night with out peeing and never pees during his nap, but put a pair of Cars underwear on him and a nice pair of clean, good smelling pants, and he'll piss before you can stuff a brownie in your mouth.
Then to make matters worse, two of the blogs I visited, talked about how well their children were doing with potty training. Like, "no mistakes and telling me she had to go potty, and even pooping." whatever. I was truly starting to talk myself into the idea that maybe it wouldn't be so bad if Racecar went to high school in pull-ups. He could be known as "Sir Soft Bottom" or "Huggy" or "The Pamper Prince" or maybe pull-ups would be "in" by then and they would be like "I got my Bears Pull-Ups on today, dude." Those thoughts were quickly ripped from my mind (thankfully) because suddenly, after MONTHS of us trying, he stood while peeing in the potty. (as opposed to sitting and pointing his junk down) Like, you know, what boys do. Stand while pissing. It's taken awhile because Lord knows how many hours this kids has watched me pee while sitting, (not to mention him telling me my "body is silly," while laughing. Hysterically. While looking at my body.) He stood and peed on Saturday night. And he's been peeing and standing since then...with no mistakes. Do you hear me? No mistakes.
Well...unless you count pooping in your underwear as a mistake. I know what you're thinking "c'mon, Beth, not two posts in two days where you talk about crapping." But, I have to, I'm sorry. He won't poop in the potty. He knows he has to poop and he wants to poop, but do you know how hard it is to poop while standing, people? He doesn't want to sit down and poop, because, girls sit. I may just attach a basket to his bottom and see if that helps, he can fill it while standing at the pot, but then who wants to clean out that basket? I'm sure he'll get it, I have no doubt, especially after he has shown us his SUPER DOOPER PEEING POWERS WHILE STANDING. What a good boy.
Now if I could just let go of the wiping of his pee pee, you know, like his Daddy.
*Racecar has remained dry yet another day and now will even go on his own and shake it. :-) No wet underwear in 3 whole days! Pooping...not so much. In due time, in due time. Thanks for all of your tips!

Oh my goodness that was a funny post.
Totally enjoyable and entertaining to read about someone else's PT'ing difficulties. hilarious about the poop basket.

Not sure how Brian feels about this, but can you have him watch Brian pooping on the potty? Seriously. It worked for Bailey. And then we had Bailey to set an example for Sam (but since you don't have the big brother factor, go with the Dad factor!)

Not everyone is having an easy time. My R. is 3 plus 4 months...and she just can't or won't get the hang of it. And girls are SUPPOSE to be easier. HUH! I feel your pain.

LOL!!!!!
Oh, I remember your poop days and potty training days... it wasn't easy for my boy either.
This too shall pass - enjoy it while you can ;) (I know...how can I say enjoy it...but someday you'd laugh at this ;)
By the way, I did something that will make you proud of me. See my blog today.

OMG. Let me wipe the tears of laughter from my face. From what I've seen, second hand, the pooping comes later for boys--I've had many a preschooler come to school not quite poop-trained. And one of my nephews still REALLY likes to poop in the corner in a pull up. You (and Racecar) are not alone!!!

I think Racecar and my 3-year-old son, whom I like to call "Turbo," would get along famously. I was laughing so HARD at this post, because I was completely with you!
He's potty-trained now, but it took 6 MONTHS! Arrrgh! I know the frustration. At least I was rewarded with a 2-week kid not long after. His sister, Cuteness, is only 2, and decided she was going to learn to. And she did. With very little help. Way cool.
