Meanwhile, I thought you might want to read this - http://www.minti.com/parenting-advice/7527/Weight-loss-other-useful-tips-edited/ - I was actually reading this the other day and it gave me food for though. Well, not literally of course.

Something that I'm going to try and implement myself is the first point about boosting the metabolism. I don't know if you've done it yet, but it's worth a shot!
