Greetings from L.A.
I'm in our hotel room, in my pajamas, surrounded by Starbucks coffee and Starbucks coffee cake. Yum & yum.
Yesterday, upon unpacking our suitcases, Brian and I were mortified by how wrinkled our clothes were. I had painstakingly folding each of my shirts with precision and love, Brian rolled his shirts and threw them into his suitcase. We pulled our shirts out and they all looked the same. Totally wrinkled, which means I had to iron, which I hate.
However, as Brian was leaving to grab me some coffee before he headed to work, I offered to iron the wrinkled shirt he had one while he went to grab some much needed caffeine. So, he changed shirts and I ironed. A lot. I have fulfilled my ironing quota for many years to come. thankyouverymuch.
Everything went smooth with our travels yesterday. I woke up yesterday morning and cleaned our house TOP TO BOTTOM as we will have at least three showings while we are gone. Which means one glorious thing - my house will be spotless when we return. What a treat!
I miss the kids terribly, luckily they are having the time of their lives with their Grandma. We called last night and Grandma and Grandpa said "Mommy and Daddy are on the phone, do you want to talk to them?" And they were like "who?" They finally said okay and picked up the phone and just made sure we would not come home early because they went to TWO playgrounds yesterday. TWO. Not one. Not none. BUT TWO. I am so glad they are having fun, I can't think of anything worse then calling home and having my children cry because they miss us. But now, I can eat, drink and be merry. While missing my kids.
I have the whole day to myself today. In a hotel room. In California. With my computer. And a TV. And two coffees. I'm not sure what I'll do today, but I do know I will be heading to the gym across the street to exercise (the challenge, remember?). Because we are staying at this hotel, we can just present our hotel key and we can gain free access to the Gold's Gym across the street. One of the benefits of staying at this hotel. There aren't many benefits to this hotel, the internet connection is slllllooooooooowwww (but free) and the lighting is flourescent. I hate flourescent lighting.
I'm also close to shopping. I will be going shopping.
Tomorrow we are renting a car and heading to In and Out Burger and probably Hollywood, but we STILL have not decided on our agenda. We were going to do that last night, but instead we went to a bar and watched drunk people sing karaoke.
I love watching drunk people sing karaoke.
Yippee!! You're in L.A.. and I'm sitting at my desk at work.. looking for something more interesting than the piles of work I have around me..
I was just starting to think that I was getting a little hungry.. then you said In-N-Out..and yep! I'm officially hungry!!!!
I hope you find something good to watch on tv.. and cool for free Gold's Gym!! That's pretty awesome!
Enjoy yourself.....

I hate ironing with a passion...
If your husband is the kind of guy who likes tons of stuff on his burger - suggest he order "animal style". It isn't on the menu (there's this whole underground menu thing - don't ask me to explain - I haven't a clue why) but it's what my husband always gets.
Here it is - the "secret menu". http://www.tiburon-belvedere.com/cgi/home.cgi?c=In_N_Out
Enjoy your day!

Oh so glad to hear you are in CA!
How FUN!
And glad to hear your house is clean. That's really nice.
And the kids are all happy! Wow, no worries there!
Sounds like things are going well. Glad to hear you are having a good time so far- of course minus the ironing!

As I am writing this, I SHOULD BE FOLDING LAUNDRY... no joke! I had a pile of laundry so high and deep and dense that Audrey's son thought we were getting ready to move. I've made a major dent, but I NEEDED to visit my computer.
So happy you arrived safely. So happy the kids are happy. So unhappy about you ironing (bring a travel steamer the next time - miraculous!). So happy that you have such a wonderful time ahead of you!
And isn't karaoke synomynous with drunk?! Now go out and sing!!!!
Have a blast!
Much love,
Sharon

Right now I'm avoiding doing my 12 page paper...I really don't want to! But, I AM SO glad you're having fun in Sunny California. Your blog entries are slowly starting to sound like a happier Beth. I really want that for you.
You should go see Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame (two things that would be on my list.) I know they're touristy, but I've always wanted to see them!

I can't wait to see your photos. Enjoy your day together tomorrow!

Bahaha! That's hysterical!
I love karaoke and not even when I'm drinking!
Ironically I was coming to invite you to participate in Fingerprint Friday on my blog. You'd have to read the instructions, but I'm not sure this photo is what I was looking for... Haha!

WELCOME to CALIFORNIA. The weather cooled down just a bit for you so you wouldn't burn. It's pretty comfortable, isn't it? (75 degrees). I hope you'll be able to make it to Disneyland this weekend. It's the perfect weather for it (not too hot and not too cold). Let me know if I can help you with anything while you are here. :-)

Relatively new reader here! Wish I had known earlier that you'd be here. I live about 30 miles east of Los Angeles - practically grew up here. I'm actually meeting another friend from blogland that visiting from MO on Sunday in Pasadena. I hope you have a fabulous trip! Make sure you visit Hollywood Blvd., but ONLY during the day and WITH your husband. I shall say no more :) Take care!

Can I come to your house and iron for free Starbucks?!?
There's nothing like coming home from vacation totally wiped out...and seeing a spotless house. That's almost better than vacation! Almost. :)

Beth...you so crack me up! I am loving living your California Dreamin' vicariously! I will do just about anything, including ironing, for Starbucks. Sippin' some cafe verona right now and THINKING about all the things I should be doing. That counts, right...just thinking about it?
Have an awesome time!
